ALICIA MUÑOZ LOMBARDÍA

Alicia Muñoz Lombardía is deputy Secretary of the Board of Santander Spain and Head of Governance, Regulation and Privacy. She has spent her entire professional career at Santander Group in various management positions related to legal advice and compliance, with direct contact with the board of Santander Spain, the management team as well as regulators, supervisors and Spanish, European and international public administrations.

She has also been a director and secretary of several companies and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Canal de Isabel II (NED), Santander Seguros and Santander Legal and Compliance as well as secretary of the Board of Directors of Redsys Servicios de Procesamiento. A regular lecturer, she teaches in several postgraduate and master’s degree programmes related to corporate governance and sustainability (Complutense University, Carlos III University and UNIR).

Author of several publications and articles in specialised and generalist media, she is also Senior Fellow of the Esade Corporate Governance Centre and Member of the Instituto de Gobernanza y Sociedad. She has received several awards such as the InspiralLaw (Editions 2019 and 2020).

Committed to diversity and sustainability, she is a founding partner of Women Action Sustainability and partner of Women in a Legal World and, for several years, she has been mentoring executives and pre-executives in their professional development and participating as a speaker in the Legal Leadership Development Program in collaboration with Harvard Law School.

With a degree in Law and a diploma in Business Administration (ICADE-E-1) and Real Estate Agent, she has completed the General Management Program (AMP) at ESADE and Wharton University, the Advance Leadership Program (McKinsey) and other postgraduate courses such as Digital Leader or the Comprehensive European Union Programme (both at Deusto Business School) (Deusto). She has recently obtained the IASE Certificate, International Sustainable Finance (Specialist Level II). As an expert in governance and sustainability, she has advised several companies, associations or Foundations as the Fundación Banco Santander.
